Height Barrier Signage

In short

Height barrier signage tells drivers the maximum clearance before they enter a basement, car park, drive-through or loading bay. Exhibition Printing Riyadh fabricates it in Riyadh as suspended bars, fixed beams and wall signs for malls, hospitals, towers and logistics sites, and installs it across Saudi Arabia.

Picture the driver of a loaded pickup turning into a basement ramp at night. The sign has to be read in that moment, from the driver's seat, with headlights on. Everything about a height barrier follows from that: big numerals, a short message, strong contrast and a position at the point where turning back is still possible.

We build three formats. A suspended bar hangs on chains at the exact clearance height and swings if touched, giving a physical warning before the structure. A fixed beam on posts marks the limit at an entrance or gate. A wall or soffit sign states the clearance where a bar is impractical. Faces are typically ACP with UV printed or vinyl graphics, and reflective material is available on request for dim basements. Arabic and English wording is standard, with your logo allowed only where it does not weaken the warning.

The number on the sign must be the measured clearance at the lowest point of the route, not the nominal design height. Measure it, or ask us to check it on site, and we will fabricate and install to suit the entrance.

Who orders this

  • Mall and basement car parks
  • Hospitals and hotels
  • Drive-through lanes
  • Warehouses and loading bays
  • Residential and office towers

Where should the barrier go?

Put the warning before the point of no return. A driver who sees it at the ramp mouth, with a queue behind, has nowhere to go. Hang the bar at the true clearance, ahead of the lowest beam, pipe or sprinkler on the route, and leave enough room for a tall vehicle to turn or reverse. On longer approaches, an advance sign further back gives drivers time to choose another route.

Should I use a rigid or a swinging bar?

A bar on chains or hinged brackets swings when struck, warning the driver with noise and passing less force to the structure above. A rigid beam looks tidier and suits gantry-style entrances, but it takes the full impact. Lightweight bars limit vehicle damage and are cheaper to replace. Many sites choose to hang a light bar a little ahead of a rigid structure, so contact happens safely first.

How do I keep it effective over time?

Check the figure again whenever the floor is resurfaced, ceilings or pipes are added, or the ramp changes, as these all alter true clearance. Reflective sheeting and printed stripes fade and get scraped, particularly in dusty car parks, so clean them and replace them once they lose contrast. After any strike, inspect the chains, brackets and fixings, even if the bar still looks fine.

What affects the price of Height Barrier Signage

01
Barrier typeA hanging bar generally costs less than a steel gantry with posts.
02
Entrance widthWider entrances need a longer bar and stronger supports, or more than one span.
03
Visibility materialsReflective sheeting, printed stripes or added lighting cost more than plain graphics.
04
Fixing pointsFixing to concrete soffits is simple, while poor structure or missing supports means extra steelwork.

Height Barrier Signage: common questions

All FAQs
What height should the sign show?

It should show the measured clearance at the lowest point of the route. Your facility or consultant team should confirm the figure before production.

Can you add our company logo?

Yes. We can include your logo or brand colors, while keeping the clearance message as the clear priority.

Do you install height barriers on site?

Yes. We review the entrance and fixing points, then install across Saudi Arabia. Timing depends on the size and site.

Should the sign show the exact clearance or a lower figure?

Many sites show a slightly lower figure than measured, as a safety margin for roof racks and rough ground. Your facility team should agree the final figure.

Can a bar that has been hit be repaired?

Often, yes. Bent brackets, chains and sections can be replaced individually, and the graphics can be renewed without replacing the whole barrier.

Do I need more than one sign per entrance?

One may be enough for a short, clear approach. Long ramps and sites with heavy delivery traffic usually benefit from an extra sign further back.
