Laser Marking & Engraving

In short

Laser marking and engraving creates a permanent logo, name or text on metal, acrylic, wood and leather without ink. Exhibition Printing Riyadh uses its own laser machines in Riyadh to produce plaques, awards, trophies, name plates and engraved pens for HR teams, event organisers and corporate gifting, with delivery across Saudi Arabia.

Engraving is the finish people expect on anything meant to be kept. A laser either cuts a shallow groove into the surface or changes its colour through heat, and the result cannot peel, scratch off or fade the way a printed label can. That makes it the standard for recognition awards, long-service plaques, speaker gifts and office name plates.

Each material behaves differently. Stainless steel and anodised aluminium take a crisp mark that reads as a lighter or darker tone against the base colour. Coated metals, such as dark pens and bottles, reveal the silver beneath. Acrylic engraves to a frosted white, which looks striking on clear or black award blanks. Wood darkens where the beam touches it, giving a warm, natural look for plaques and boxes. Leather can be marked for notebook covers and card holders. Because the mark is always one tone, a full-colour logo needs a one-colour version prepared for engraving.

We engrave both items we supply and items you bring to us, subject to a material check. Variable data such as individual names, dates and serial numbers is handled from a list, which suits graduation ceremonies and staff awards. Standard turnaround is 2 to 5 business days, with faster service on request for event deadlines.

How does laser engraving work?

A computer-guided beam traces the artwork across the item. Depending on the power and speed we set, it either vaporises a thin layer of material to cut a shallow groove, or heats the surface enough to change its colour without removing anything. Coated metals reveal the base metal, acrylic turns frosted white, wood darkens, and anodised aluminium takes a crisp contrasting mark. The item sits on a jig or a rotary attachment for cylindrical pieces such as pens and bottles, so repeated items come out identical.

How do I choose between engraving and printing?

Engrave when the item should last and feel formal: awards, plaques, name plates, executive pens and gifts for senior guests. Print when colour is essential or the quantity is large and the budget per piece is small. If both matter, we can engrave the logo and UV print a colour element on the same item. Also consider the material: a clear acrylic award reads beautifully when engraved from the back, while a bright plastic giveaway often looks better printed.

How long does an engraved mark last and does it need care?

The mark is part of the material, so it lasts as long as the item and cannot be rubbed off. Acrylic awards should be wiped with a soft cloth and mild soap rather than solvent cleaners, which cloud the surface. Wood plaques keep their colour best out of direct sun. Stainless steel can be polished without affecting the engraving. For plaques displayed outdoors, ask for a material suited to sun and dust; we will recommend one.

All FAQs
What is the difference between laser marking and engraving?

Marking changes the surface colour without removing material, while engraving cuts a shallow groove you can feel. Both are permanent; the material and the look you want decide which we use.

Can you engrave in colour?

No, a laser mark is always a single tone created by the material itself. If you need colour, we can combine engraving with UV printing on suitable items.

Can I bring my own items to be engraved?

Yes, in most cases. We check the material first, since some coatings and plastics do not mark well, and we recommend a test piece for valuable items.

How quickly can you engrave awards for an event?

Standard orders take 2 to 5 business days. If your ceremony is sooner, tell us the date and the number of pieces and we will confirm whether a rush is possible.

Can you engrave on curved items like bottles and tumblers?

Yes, a rotary attachment turns the item under the beam so the logo wraps evenly. Tell us the diameter and we will confirm the usable area.

Can engraving be filled with colour?

On some materials a colour fill can be added into the engraved groove by hand, which suits plaques and signage. It is an extra step, so mention it when you enquire.

Do you supply the award blanks or should I buy them?

We supply acrylic, wood and metal blanks in standard shapes and can engrave items you provide after a material check. Supplying through us keeps timing in one place.
