DTF Print Lanyards

In short

DTF print lanyards are made by printing the design onto a transfer film with a white base layer, then heat-pressing it onto the strap, so detailed multi-colour artwork stays bright on black or navy. Riyadh-made and delivered across Saudi Arabia, they suit short runs, department variants and workshop series where each group needs a different strap.

Exhibitions often need five versions of the same lanyard: exhibitor, visitor, press, VIP and crew, each in modest numbers and each on the house colour, which is usually dark. Screen printing would mean separate setups for every version, and sublimation cannot start from a dark strap. DTF handles this quietly. Each design is printed to film and pressed on, with no screens to make, whatever the colour count.

The white layer is the reason it works on dark fabric. It is laid down under the colours during printing, so a red logo on a black strap stays red instead of turning muddy. Thin lines, small type and multi-colour emblems hold their shape well, which also makes DTF a sensible choice for a detailed crest that silk screen would simplify.

Be aware of the feel. The transfer sits on the surface, so there is a slight film under the fingers compared with a dyed strap. If softness is the priority and your strap is light, sublimation wins. If your strap is dark and your artwork is detailed or your runs are short, DTF is the practical route. Our factory applies it to polyester and other suitable straps after a quick check, and our Riyadh team reviews artwork free of charge.

Who orders this

  • Detailed logos on dark straps
  • Shorter corporate orders
  • Team or department variations
  • Training events and workshops
  • Multi-colour logos with fine text

When is DTF the wrong choice for a lanyard?

If your design is a plain one-colour logo on a large run, silk screen usually costs less and feels thinner. If you want colour edge to edge, or a very soft strap, sublimation is better. DTF earns its place when a logo has several colours and fine detail and the strap must stay dark. Use it for that job, rather than as an all-purpose method.

How is a DTF logo laid out on a narrow strap?

DTF transfers are placed as separate pieces, so a logo usually repeats along the strap rather than forming a seamless pattern. Spacing is a design decision: closer repeats keep the logo visible after twisting, while wider gaps look calmer and keep the strap more flexible. Keep the transfer off the fold at the neck, where the film bends most. We can suggest a spacing once we see your logo and strap.

How well does a DTF print hold up?

With correct pressing and normal wear, a DTF transfer stays bright and resists cracking, because the film is flexible. It can start to lift at sharp corners, tiny details or points of constant rubbing. Wash gently if needed, air dry, and avoid ironing directly on the print, because heat softens the adhesive. Store straps loosely rather than tightly folded, particularly in a hot car or warehouse.

What to send us

  • Send a vector logo, or a PNG with a transparent background at full size.
  • Avoid semi-transparent effects and faint shadows, which print poorly on film.
  • Make thin lines a little heavier, so they hold on the transfer.
  • Say what strap colour you want and how often the logo should repeat.

All FAQs
What is the advantage of DTF on a lanyard?

DTF prints detailed multi-colour artwork on dark straps, which sublimation and silk screen find harder to do. It also needs no separate screen for each colour.

Will I feel the print on a DTF lanyard?

You may feel a slight film, because the transfer sits on the surface of the strap. If softness matters most, sublimation is usually the better choice.

Is DTF suitable for small orders?

It is often a practical choice for shorter runs, since it needs no colour screens. Tell us your quantity and we will confirm the best method.

Can DTF lanyards be washed?

Yes, a gentle hand wash is fine, followed by air drying. Avoid high heat and ironing directly on the transfer, as heat softens the adhesive.

Can I print a different name on each strap?

It may be possible, since DTF needs no screens, but it adds handling. Share your list and quantity so we can confirm.

Where should the logo sit so it is not lost at the neck?

Place it on the front lengths of the strap, starting below the collar line. Logos at the back of the neck bend the most and are rarely seen.
